“there is a loneliness in this world so great
that you can see it in the slow movement of
the hands of a clock

people so tired
mutilated
either by love or no love.

people just are not good to each other
one on one.

the rich are not good to the rich
the poor are not good to the poor.

we are afraid.”

“Patience Inspires” by Stephen Kalinich (journal entry)

Posted in journal entry, Photo, Poetry with tags , , , , on February 28, 2010 by lkthayer

I have learned one thing
the last few years.
Pressure is not bad
in this modern world
one must learn to live with it
cultivate patience
because a person
must be able
to tolerate some frustration
and disappointment
to be prepared for life
without learning
how to reverse the every day strains
one will sink
one must rise
by a quiet waiting
knowing even
in the midst of uncertainty
an answer will come
and one must forge ahead
until sunshine gladden the heart
and
lightness
lifts our soul.

“My Poetry” by Michele Spector

Poetry, my valued companion,

Searching life for richer essence,

Not content to dally long,

Concealed amidst the shallows,

Preferably burrowing instead,

Deeply inside its marrow.

The rose upon my balcony the morning air perfuming,

was leafless all the winter time and pining for the spring.

“Exit Softly” by Julie Dolcemaschio

I drew breath the night she took her last
And vibrated with her passing
I waxed as she waned
And I told her it was alright to leave

I pushed between the spaces of my living
And for every breath she took, I gave her more of mine
Hoping that it would give me a few more minutes
Yet hoping it wouldn’t

She hurt enough
She suffered enough
She endured enough

In her last breath the good daughter urged her on
And in her final moments a single tear traced the lines of her face
Now taut over structure bones no longer needed in this life
She told me once that a life lived full was all that was required
And that passing the test required only a smile

I watched her exit softly in the late night quiet
Reverence for the passing of royalty
And as that final tear caressed her cheek
I saw God, and I asked him to hold her hand

She was a bit unsteady
And had a fear of falling

and if you got one, it was better than ambrosia.”

“The Unfinished Line” by L. K. Thayer

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , , , , on February 26, 2010 by lkthayer

Melancholy sand in the sleep eye of dawn,
restless wanderings in my mind as I envision thee
lying across my pillow, a tussle of grey hair against
your arms crossed.

Star crossed lovers catching not but one glimpse
except what lies upon the page. My thoughts churn
up magical rendezvous of bread and wine, of me
in white frills being taken at full force under the elms.

When will the missing puzzle be complete
When will my heart skip
When will we meet at last under a starry moon
embrace the flames of love that only time

can extinguish.

I ache for your lips upon my neck, sending shivers down
my legs, I take your salty flesh, tasting waves of your pleasure.
One call, one syllable, one murmur of your existence

knowing you are flesh and blood,
meeting my flesh and blood,

surging pulses race
across

the unfinished line.

“A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one

reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.”
