“Cut While Shaving”

It’s never quite right, he said, the way people look,
the way the music sounds, the way the words are
written.
It’s never quite right, he said, all the things we are
taught, all the loves we chase, all the deaths we
die, all the lives we live,
they are never quite right,
they are hardly close to right,
these lives we live
one after the other,
piled there as history,
the waste of the species,
the crushing of the light and the way,
it’s not quite right,
it’s hardly right at all
he said.

don’t I know it? I
answered.

I walked away from the mirror.
it was morning, it was afternoon, it was
night

nothing changed
it was locked in place.
something flashed, something broke, something
remained.

I walked down the stairway and
into it.

Live each season as it passes; breathe the air,

drink the drink, taste the fruit,

and resign yourself to the influences of each.

The news on the street!!

there is no news

just scandal

cover ups and lies

greed corruption

sex

news stands groan

london is not paved in gold

Murdoch’s litter

trash sells or just give it away

we can always say sorry another day

“Last Call” by Chanel Brenner

Life is not really life at all.

It is the mask that death wears

To a costume at His own ball.

It is the glitter and gold

of His decorations

It is the intoxication of the drinks

He is serving.

It is the beauty of the music

He is orchestrating.

It is the last call,

Of His calling.

We know it is a disguise

Yet we play along

What else are we to do?

We attend.

We dance.

We drink.

We listen.

We go home.

“No greater thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig.

If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time.

Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.”

- Epictetus

“A Summer Night’s Dream” by Bronwyn

Posted in Guest Squeeze, Photo, Poetry with tags , , , , on July 26, 2011 by lkthayer

The evening breeze has scent so good

Of green and damp, earth and wood

The meadow’s lighted by stars in the sky

The Greenwood’s torch is the tiny fire fly

A hush settles over the mist covered dale

A fairy flits by with a stardust trail

The rabbit and deer drink at the brook

The wood nymph peeks out … Just for a look

A Naiad bathes in the chuckling stream

Is it real … Or is it a summer nights dream?

“In All Directions” by Stephen John Kalinich

Posted in Guest Squeeze, Poetry with tags , , , , , on July 23, 2011 by lkthayer
You and I are
only as good as our source
underneath  every poem
is the reality of spirit
in all directions
without limitation
yesterday is a memory
in conscious grace
originality is in us
and from the Divine
cooperating with us
a brief glimpse
of the mystery
to be alive
is a grand idea
in being
without measure
you need daily inspiration
to enter
the calm tender currents
ordained as potential
before the concept
of time was formulated
I am grateful
each day
for I am lead by the wisdom
of an indivisible invisible power
and know
here a victory
a miracle awaits
as the sun comes up
 by acknowledging
a need to forgive the
inner need for recognition
Vast waters of the spirit
enrich us
you are between
the stars and Oceans
inwardly
given
this grand eloquent opportunity
to be alive.

When you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes out

– because that’s what’s inside. When you are squeezed,

what comes out is what is inside.
